3rd Annual Honor Service

Our church just finished its 3rd Annual Honor Service.  The theme was "Torchbearers." This year we had several missionaries that we support come in.  They had each been on the field for over 25 years.  With 8 missionaries, these years totaled over 300 years of service to our Lord!!! We had a booklet with brief biographies of their ministries to date as well as a list of all the mission

aries we support. 

We were blessed to have John's parents able to come. They have been on the field of Japan for 33 years! Our Pastor spoke of "Honor" and what it means. Whom we honor in our lives will tell others a lot about us.

Many young people came forward at the end, proclaiming that they were willing to go in the stead of missionaries who have finished their course. There were torches in the auditorium that our Pastor passed to them as a symbol of what they had committed to doing. 

The missionaries were presented with plaques to commemorate this service, telling of the number of years they had served thus far on the field to which God had called them.

After the morning service, we had our Honor's Banquet in the gymnasium. The food was delicious, and Kyria and I were able to sit with Nana and Papa Piatt as well as Bro. and Mrs. Charles Strong to Mexico.  It was a sweet time.  There was a slide presentation that included pictures from all the missionaries' ministries.  

During the evening service, each of the missionary men spoke for a few minutes about a favorite verse, giving us a challenge for our own lives.  During this service, the missionaries were presented with books of letters of appreciation from our church family as well as from some of the pastors of their supporting churches. After this time of sharing, we had a fellowship (with more food) :).

Mother Fun...

This year our church had their "every-other-year" Mother/Daughter Banquet.  It was a blessing to have  my oldest daughter be old enough to attend!!  There were some cute skits done by the children, and the food was delicious (as always) :)  Here is a pic of Kyria and me ...We just got the pics back :)

Oh NO--don't do that!

WOW....Anya is climbing up on the kitchen table now.  We cannot turn our back to her for very long.  Kyria was never that adventurous...guess everyone has to have one that keeps them on their toes :)  I would have taken a picture of it, but I just wanted to get her down!! :)

getting so big...

The girls are getting big TOOO fast!  Anya is learning more than she can vocalize :)  She goes to get a diaper and puts things away--most of the time :)  but she does not say anything recognizable yet (except mamamama--which means "more" as in FOOD, please).  

The Lord has blessed us so richly with sweetheart dolls, and I thank Him for them.  They are on a walk with Daddy right now, and the quiet is nice.  But I would not want to get used to it just yet :)

Kyria is learning to be a little lady, and it is wonderful to watch. It is something I was unconscious of learning as a child as my mom simply taught by example.  I pray that my daughters will be shining beacons of what a Christian lady ought to be.  Incidentally, Kyria's name means "Christian Lady"...and Anya Ruth means "graceful friend"...

just an update...

Anya's eczema was acting up last night, so she is sleeping in this morning (lucky girl).  She has to get shots today, too :( POOR baby....

Summer school is in full swing for John--oh what fun (HAhahaHAAAA)!

in the life of...

John and I will celebrate our 5th anniversary in about 1 1/2 weeks.  It is hard to believe it has been that long.  They have been wonderful years, and God has blessed.  

Our church is having their 3RD Annual Honor Service on June 22.  We will be honoring missionaries that our church supports who have been on the field for over 25 years. What a special time that will be.  

Our girls are growing so quickly.  Kyria loves books and play cooking.  She is so like her mommy that sometimes it is scary!!.  Anya Ruth is into EVERYTHING!!  She loves to unload --anything with anything in it:)  She tries so hard to keep up with her big sister.  I'm not sure how she'll do with a new baby, but we are praying for wisdom.  Kyria was soo excited about having a new baby the first time; now she thinks it's just great.  She is convinced it is a brother because that is what she's asked God for.  The faith of children is convicting at times.
