So, I did not get as many pictures of Anya being a flower girl as I did of Kyria; but she was BEAUTIFUL and did a FABULOUS job!! When the bride gets the photos, I will have to ask her for some of Anya actually in the wedding.

t-shirt dresses

Ok, {mom and other family/friends who may be interested} :)

Here are the girls' dresses the Lord allowed me to put together in the weeks just before school began. There are a few that did not get photographed yet because they were either dirty or being worn... I'll see about getting pix of them another day. Please excuse the need for pressing.

Here is a wonderful tutorial if anyone out there wonders how I did this. I measured from their shoulder down to their waist to know where I wanted to trim the shirt. I used the excess from the shirt bottoms to create the ruffles. As long as your shirt is not tight and has some give, and the skirt is at least as wide as the shirt stretched out a bit, you do not actually have to measure how wide, etc. like in the tutorial. But if you are starting from scratch with a T and some fabric, the fabric should be at least 1.25 times as wide as the bottom of the shirt. {if that makes any sense :)}

Every single one of these came from a thrifted skirt-so I did not have to hem anything! Praise the Lord. :) And most of the t-shirts were thrifted also. The skirts for Kyria were actually ladies'! I can hardly believe how tall she is getting. I also do not usually talk about how much things cost, but ALL of these dresses plus the few that did not make it into the pictures cost less than $40 total {that's 14 [?] dresses!!} plus 4-5 days of "mommy moments" {15 minutes here... 30 minutes there...} to put them together. and THAT is exciting to me! YEAH!! God is good.

The t-shirts are just white from walmart, though the two smaller ones had the "ruffle" at the top already. The red/white stripe was a ladies' L skirt from the thrift store! There was not much left over, but I only had to hem Mikalah's dress {SCORE!}  I love the detail I did on Kyria's dress. There was not enough of the white to do the same on the other two, but if I come across some more white knit [which I know I have some somewhere. lol] I may add some ruffles to the other two skirts. For now, the two bows on Mikalah's are more for the girls to readily know whose is whose at a glance. {smiles}

life lessons... and BBs

Life lesson: NEVER POINT A GUN AT A PERSON {unless you are trying to hurt them, which should not be the responsibility of an 8 year old... but you never know. so lesson taught.}

Now on with the fun! John bought a BB gun the other day. We want to teach our children gun safety; so this is where we started. Anya is not thrilled with trying to shoot it but likes to watch us. And that's OK! :)

Kyria's dress is another new tshirt dress for school. She says it's her favorite {I really like it too-love those stripes}, but she's not sure which one she wants to wear the first day. I think I've made her 5 and Anya & Mikalah each 4 in the past few weeks. Anya also has a couple new shirt/skirt outfits like this one here. Each piece was found on 2 separate trips to the thrift store, and they match as if they were made for each other. I LOVE how God does that! He truly does care about the little things.

On Monday we went to a science center in downtown with some friends. It was great fun! They were so sweet to invite us along. The kids are similar ages and have fun playing together. Corban stayed home with daddy as it was his day off.... boy bonding time. {smiles}
